Beyond the Painting

The centenary of Wojciech Fangor’s birth, which falls in 2022, is the perfect opportunity to present the artist’s rich legacy. From today’s perspective, his work still remains a momentous and inspiring phenomenon. Fangor’s immense and varied oeuvre makes it possible to look at his art from ever different perspectives, to read it again and again. This work also perfectly illustrates the development of Polish art after 1945, with all the problems and dilemmas resulting from historical conditions. It also fits very strongly into the context of world art.

The catalogue accompanying the exhibition “Fangor. Beyond the Painting” catalogue of the exhibition has been divided into five parts. Each of them brings closer the subsequent stages in the artist’s work, and in particular the moments and phrases that have left the strongest mark on his art.
