Critical Comments
A copy of Pablo Picasso's Acrobate à la Boule [Acrobat on a Ball], painted in 1905. The original artwork was purchased in Paris in 1913 by Russian collector Ivan Morozov. In 1919, together with other works from his collection, it became part of the State Museum of New Western Art in Moscow. Following Stalin's decision in 1948, the museum was closed, and its holdings were divided between the Hermitage Museum in Leningrad (today Saint Petersburg) and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow – the latter ultimately receiving Picasso’s work.
