Wojciech Fangor. Drawings

The exceptionally rich and diverse body of work by Wojciech Fangor spans from figurative painting through Socialist Realism to Op-Art, and includes spatial realizations and installations. Fangor’s versatility and willingness to experiment with various artistic forms distinguished his artistic personality not only in Poland but internationally.

Among his works on paper, his outstanding posters from the 1950s stand out, alongside drawings that have accompanied the artist from the beginning of his career as an independent form of expression, notes, or records of graphic and architectural project ideas.

The exhibition curated by Kolonia Artystyczna aims to juxtapose classical drawing with modernist works, frequently referencing Cubism, Surrealism, or even Primitivism. For the exhibition at Fangorówka, we have selected drawings across various styles, including nudes, still lifes, landscapes, and abstract geometric forms. Presenting these drawings in the gallery’s unique atmosphere—strongly influenced by the artist’s early work, notably a mythological ceiling painting executed in an idyllic, Rococo-inspired style—promises to create an intriguing artistic experience.
